With the 2016 calendar year entering its final stretch, it’s safe to assume Drake will probably finish another year at the top of the music’s elite. With hits such as “Controlla,” ‘”One Dance” (which was number one on the Billboard Hot 100 for ten weeks), and his key assistance onRihanna’s melodic “Work,” Drake proved once again he’s one of pop music’s most charismatic songwriters. A man with a knack for curating hits must give the people live performances, as well. Since July, he and Future have co-headlined their massively-successful Summer Sixteen Tour, which comes to an end in October.
Past ghostwriting woes or whether or not Drake is apart of the aristocracy of rap is still a primary topic, but it apparently hasn’t stopped his prolific work output in the past 19 months. In that span, he’s released three commercially successful projects (If You’re Reading This It’s Too Late, What A Time To Be Alive with Future, and Views), so while in Tacoma, Washington on Friday (September 16), Drake addressed the crowd about some new music he’s been working on as of late.
“I’ve been on this tour. I’m recording new music. I’m about like six, seven new songs in,” he says in the above Twitter video. “Just getting warmed up. I don’t know what I’m going to do with it, I don’t know what it’s gonna be, but what I do know is I can not wait to come back to the motherfuckin Tacoma Dome and perform all that shit for y’all.”
Whether or not the new music is for the confirmed project with Kanye West or solo work remains to be seen, however, the fact Drizzy remains eager to produce new recordings says that may be he’s not ready to relinquish his throne on the game just yet. culled from The Source.
